Garfield County RWD #6 in Garber, OK has an immediate opening for the position of Operator/Operator Trainee. This job is a full-time position with competitive salary, and Overtime/Call-out pay. It also includes health, dental, optical, and life insurance, as well as a match to a retirement fund of your choice. Vacation and sick leave are accrued at the beginning of each fiscal year. Company vehicle and tools are provided. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, and Friday from 8:00am to 2:00pm with a thirty-minute paid lunch each day. You will receive two days off for all major holidays. Pay periods are every other Friday. This position will be on-call with the manager through the week, and on-call every other weekend.

 

This job entails all aspects of producing water from commercial ground wells, and distribution to customers, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of those facilities. This includes new installation, general maintenance, and emergency repairs. General maintenance, such as mowing, painting, etc., is also included. There is a math element to this job in totaling things like usage and liquid feed rates.  This water system spans a large portion of eastern Garfield County, the southern edge of Grant County, and the western edge of Noble County. We utilize a data collection/SCADA system, as well as cellular based meters. We also utilize Diamond Maps for the system and tap/facility locations. Upon hire, you must attain a class D water license within one year of the employment date. This is a class taken through a DEQ accredited instructor. Renewal hours of training must continue each year to maintain the license. Training, testing and license fees are paid for by the District. This is a job with steady work, where there are always tasks to perform, and no two days are the same.

 

The ideal applicant would possess mechanical knowledge, basic hand tool knowledge, general plumbing knowledge, and be able to perform math equations at a basic Algebra level, while utilizing technology. The District is willing to train the right applicant in all facets of the job. Having the right attitude and mindset is key. All applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds, and pass a drug screening. All applicants must have a minimum high school diploma/GED and valid driver’s license.
